Exactly one year ago our online shop was born and the first watches went over the virtual counter.
We take our first anniversary as an opportunity to bring the Julien de Bourg Journal to life and to show you in this article who Julien de Bourg is and what we stand for.

The Julien de Bourg brand was founded by two siblings, my brother and myself. Our great-grandfather was a watchmaker. Our grandfather dedicated himself to the production of movements, first in Switzerland and then in the Far East. Before building the production plant in Seoul and later in Hong Kong, our grandfather George von Burg has built a watch case production in the States. This he then transferred to Asia since production costs were lower and the know-how was brought to Asia by himself.
The family owned movement production became the world’s third largest right after Seiko and Citizen.
Our parents then switched from producing single watch components to manufacturing complete watches for various jewelry and fashion brands for over 30 years. Knowledge and experience have been passed on from generation to generation and it is obvious that we, as the 4th generation, are also devoted to the watchmaking passion.
We never wanted to be just another typical watch brand on the market. We knew that we wanted to position ourselves differently. Our vision was to develop a quality product whilst being accessible to the broad public.
There are enough battery-powered (quartz) watches in the lower price segment on the market, which is why we wanted to offer our customers added value at a similar price.
This is how the idea behind Julien de Bourg was born.
We focus exclusively on automatic watches, watches without batteries.
We do this because we are convinced that we can offer a good quality with an appealing design without demanding the usual market margins. Only by our know-how of many years in the watch production and the reduced margin we can offer you these breath-taking prices.
